このたびAMMON KYOTOでは白谷琢磨、関口恵美、百々謙三による展覧会「三日月—MIKAZUKI—讃岐國分寺大日如来制作プロジェクトで出会った作家たち」を2023年1月13日(金)より開催いたします。
彫刻家・大森暁生氏とその工房では、1486年に焼失した大日如来像を東宝記に基づいて忠実に再現し、讃岐國分寺(香川県)に納めるという『大日如来制作プロジェクト』が進められています。本展では、このプロジェクトにて彫刻を担当している作家3名による作品を展示いたします。

AMMON TOKYOにて開催した彩色スタッフによるグループ展「日輪 - HINOWA-」（2021年）から続く展示として、彫刻スタッフによるグループ展は「三日月 -MIKAZUKI-」と題しました。
イメージの元は月輪からですが、月輪は満月のことを意味します。私たち3人はまだ完全な満月には届かない未熟な者として三日月としました。
ただ、三日月の様に鋭さと輝きをもって各々の表現に磨きをかけていければと思っております。

素材やモチーフの背景にある言葉を用いて物語や新たな視点を生みだす白谷氏、木材の反った形状から子どもの姿を着想し、近年では情感溢れる女の子を主に制作する関口氏、動物・幻獣を神話や心理など独自の観点で表現する百々氏。3名の作家が織りなす世界観をぜひ会場でお楽しみください。

AMMON KYOTO is pleased to announce an exhibition by Takuma Shiratani and Emi Sekiguchi and Dodo Kenzo
“Mikazuki: Artists who met through the Sanuki Kokubunji Dainichi Nyorai Creation Project" will be held at AMMON KYOTO from Friday, January 13, 2023.
Japanese sculptor Akio Omori, along with his studio, are currently working on the “Dainichi Nyorai Reproduction Project” to faithfully reproduce the statue of Dainichi Nyorai, which was destroyed by fire in 1486. It has been created based on the Toboki, a history of Toji temple in Kyoto and will be delivered to Sanuki Kokubun-Ji Temple in Kagawa Prefecture. This exhibition will feature works by the three artists who are in charge of sculptures for the project.

–As a continuation of the group exhibition "HINOWA" (2021) held at AMMON TOKYO by the coloring staff, the group exhibition by the sculpture staff titled "MIKAZUKI".
The image is based on the moon ring, which means a full moon. The three of us, as inexperienced people who have not yet reached the full moon, were designated as "crescent moons”.
However, we hope to refine our individual expressions with sharpness and brilliance just like the crescent moon.

Shiratani creates stories and new perspectives by using words behind materials and motifs, Sekiguchi is inspired by the warped shape of wood to create figures of children, and in recent years has mainly created girls full of emotion, and Dodo expresses animals and fantastic beasts from his own perspective, including mythology and psychology. Please come and enjoy the world view of the three artists at the exhibition.
