塩崎顕・永岡郁美・菊地貴子による「日本画三人展」を開催いたします。
本展では、日本画の素材を用いて独自の世界観を表現する三人の日本画家の作品を展示いたします。

We are pleased to announce the "Japanese Painting Trio Exhibition"
by Takako Kikuchi, Ken Shiozaki, and Ikumi Nagaoka, starting from September 29th, 2023 (Fri).
This exhibition will showcase the works of three Japanese painters who express their unique artistic visions using traditional Japanese painting materials.

ARTIST STATEMENT
日本画三人展といっても描く対象は様々で、日本画の素材を使うという共通点を持ちながら一人一人が全く異なる世界を表現しています。
塩崎顕は、古くから伝わる諺・格言・童謡・昔話・比喩・神話等、多様なものの中に 潜む様々な生き物を自身のイメージのフィルターを通しながら新しい日本画の作品として描いてきました。現代の日本人が持つ美意識や感性に訴えかける平面絵画作品を描くことで、
アートの世界における今後の「日本絵画」の存在意義と可能性を提示したいと考えています。
永岡郁美は、伝統的な日本画の素材を使いながら、実際に「見た」もしくは「触れた」中で美しいと感じた命あるものをモチーフにして作品を描いています。しかし、描こうとしているのは外見の美しさだけではありません。たとえ不完全な姿であってもそこに居たという確かな実感と、
目に見えない湿度や空気の流れまでも画面の中に残したいと考えています。本展ではこれまでの表現を更に練磨し、
普遍的な生命への讃美と進化し続けようとする作家自身の姿を表そうとしています。
菊地貴子は、⻑年日本画を学びながら、同時に七宝焼の技法を会得し日本画と組み合わせることで、独自の路線を維持しながらその表現の幅を拡張してきました。これまでは菊地が日常生活の中で出会う「特別」なものを美しく繊細な作品として昇華してきましたが、
本展では京都ならではの景色にふさわしい四季が織りなす日本の美を新たな作品として発表いたします。
繊細でありながらも確かな表現力で描かれている作品、そしてそれぞれが織りなす独自の世界観をぜひ会場でお楽しみください。
Each artist showcases a distinct world of their own while sharing the common theme of utilizing Japanese painting materials.
Ken Shiozaki has been creating new Japanese painting works by depicting various creatures hidden within proverbs, sayings, nursery rhymes, folktales, metaphors, and myths passed down through generations. Through his flat paintings that resonate with the aesthetic sensibilities and
emotions of modern-day Japanese, he aims to highlight the significance and possibilities of "Japanese painting" in the world of art.
Ikumi Nagaoka's works are inspired by living things that she has either "seen" or "touched" and found beautiful in real life. However, her intent goes beyond portraying mere physical beauty. She seeks to capture the tangible presence of the subjects, even in their imperfect forms, as well as
the invisible qualities like humidity and the flow of air. In this exhibition, she refines her existing expressions further, aiming to portray not only
the praise for universal life but also the artist's own evolution.
Takako Kikuchi has taken a unique path by combining her knowledge of traditional Japanese painting with the techniques of cloisonné enamel. This fusion has allowed her to expand the range of her artistic expression while maintaining her individual style. While previously she transformed "special" elements from her daily life into delicate and beautiful artworks, this exhibition will present her interpretation of the beauty of Japan's four seasons, fitting the landscapes unique to Kyoto.

PROFILE
塩崎 顕 Ken SHIOZAKI (1972-)
東京都出身。1997年多摩美術大学大学院美術研究科を修了。主に平安〜江戸時代の日本絵画に着目し、テーマの多様性や工芸的な技術の高さを再評価すると共に当時の様式やエッセンスを再構成しながら作品を制作している。作品所蔵先は臨済宗妙心寺派龍源寺（東京都）・真言宗稲荷山光明院(神奈川県)・浄土宗普門寺(山口県)ほか。
Ken SHIOZAKI (1972-)
Born in Tokyo Pref. Graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tama Art University in 1997. Focusing mainly on Japanese paintings from the Heian to Edo periods, he re-evaluates the diversity of themes and craftsmanship, while reconstructing the style and essence of the period. His works are held at Ryugenji Temple of the Myoshinji School of Rinzai Zen Buddhism (Tokyo), Komyoin Temple of the Inari Shingon sect (Kanagawa Prefecture), Fumonji Temple of the Jodo sect (Yamaguchi Prefecture), and others.
永岡 郁美 Ikumi NAGAOKA (1987-)
島根県出身。2011年多摩美術大学絵画学科日本画専攻を卒業後、2013年に東京藝術大学大学院文化財保存学日本画修士過程を修了。卒業後、６年間文化財の復元研究に従事しながら国内外の美術品を調査し自身の制作にも影響を受ける。岩絵具と膠といった伝統的な日本画の素材を主体に作品を制作している。
Ikumi NAGAOKA (1987-)
Born in Shimane Pref. After graduating from Tama Art University with a major in Japanese painting in 2011 and completing her master's program in Cultural Heritage Conservation (Japanese painting) at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2013. She spent six years engaged in research on the restoration of cultural properties while also researching artworks in Japan and abroad, which influenced her own work. She works mainly with traditional Japanese painting materials such as mineral pigments and glue.
菊地 貴子 Takako KIKUCHI (1991-)
青森県出身。2018年に東京藝術大学美術学部絵画科日本画専攻を卒業後、2020年に同大学大学院を修了。「七宝焼×日本画」という独自の組み合わせで作品を制作。七宝の光沢と透明感、そして岩絵具で作られる繊細であたたかみのある作風が特徴。二つの技法の組み合わせにより更に味わい深く表現されている。
Takako KIKUCHI (1991-)
Born in Aomori Pref. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts with a major in Japanese painting in 2018 and completing her graduate studies at the same university in 2020, she has been creating works using her unique combination of cloisonné enamel and Japanese painting techniques. Her works are characterized by the gloss and transparency of cloisonné as well as the warmth and delicacy achieved with mineral pigments. Each motif is skillfully expressed through the combination of these two techniques, aiming to evoke the joy of discovering the subtle sparkling charm in various objects.
