《狗腿子》 The Fawner

現代中国語のスラングでは、利益を得ることを目的に他人を陥れるようなお世辞をしばしば言います。そんな振る舞いへの風刺を込めて制作された作品です。
これは、中国語のことわざから派生した、より抽象的な意味が含まれています。ファン・ポーレンが表現したいのは、人々は犬を見下す資格はないということです。この斬新な表現は、後の「The Dog's Notes」での一連の擬人化された作品制作へと繋がっていきました。
It mocks those people who would try to please others in order to gain some benefits.
This is a work with a more abstract vocabulary, derived from Chinese proverbs. What the artist wants to express is that don’t even let the dogs look down on humans. The witty creative way also opened up a series of humanized works in the later "The Dog’s Notes".
中國現代俚語 諷刺現代人偶爾為了一些利益時 會給降低格調拍馬屁的行徑 。這是較為抽象語彙的作品，源自中文諺語。藝術家想表達的是，人不要做到連狗都瞧不起。詼諧性的創作手法，也開啟了後來的「狗札記」一系列擬人化作品。
